I started this blog a year back to share my experience about the Canadian Student VISA process. The VISA process is fairly simple but strangely enough very few people have enough details about how to go about the process. So, let me guide you through the process.

It’s been a year since I applied for my Canadian VISA. Everything went as planned once I landed here and it has been an amazing journey ever since. So, I am looking forward to share my experience with my fellow Indians about not only how to apply for Canadian Student VISA, but also about life in Canada. I am going to touch on “How to get a Canadian Driving License”, “How to travel to the US” etc. etc. Hope this helps and hope to see you in Canada soon.

Things to Do

Now this is one page that I am going to update very frequently. I am going to list down some of the things that's coming to my mind right now. And I am going to keep adding stuff till I get the perfect list.

Things to do back home

  1. Apply for university transcripts, at least 5-10 copies. It would be very difficult to ask someone else to go to your college and get them for you.You may need transcripts for applying for internships, jobs, etc
  2. Leave sufficient number of authorization letters with your parents to collect your mails and complete other bank formalities etc. while you are away.
  3. Get an international driver's permit.
  4. Get a master health checkup done( including dental and eye checkup)
  5. Get prescriptions and medicines for all common ailments.
  6. Carry an extra pair of lenses/spectacles for emergency.
  7. Start making a "things to carry" list at least one month before the trip.
  8. Carry an international SIM. One of my friends had used HireASim. It was really nice. Incoming calls in all countries were very cheap. Outgoing to landlines are very cheap but outgoing to mobiles can be a bit expensive. If you have an Android or an iPhone you can make calls using your WiFi connection. Most international countries have free WiFi hotspots. But I would still suggest you carry an international sim.
A more detailed list for things to carry can be found here

I am also going to come up with a list of "things to carry" very soon....Keep checking.
